July 06
July comes in hot or wet. In Florida it is often hot AND wet.
The cool April mornings are just fading memories. Like the early
June weddings are fading now that the Brides and Grooms are off on
trips to places where they will not be able to go to after
families are started.
In this time of the year, we, here in Florida, are holding our
breaths. One day it is hot and dry and the next is
rain-inches-by-the-hours thunder storms. The first tropical storm
came and reminded us that this is the season to start watching the
heat waves roll off of Africa.
The 4th of July is a favorite holiday. We get off work, have
family outings
and watch glorious fire works in the night sky. Most people ignore
or are ignorant of what the celebration is really about.
We might take this opportunity, "this Declaration of Independence"
to declare our individual independence from the many things that
are chaining us to yesterday and
keeping us from moving forward today and tomorrow. We are free to
cut the ties to old outdated thoughts, sorrows for things that
didn't work out, lost loves and the concept that our problems are
the result of someone else's actions.
This declaration can be scary. Taking charge of our life and
standing in the light instead of the shadow requires that we have
faith in ourselves and that the resources
we need will be there when we need them.
Progress always
requires that we move out of our comfort zone. Be it physical
security or a social environment. Feel how our Fore Fathers must
have felt; Exhilarated at the freedom but exposed to the world.
But Still, they asked for the direction and their heart answered
with a big "Go for it".
Declare your freedom! Carpe Diem!
Mirage.
Like the sun that climbs on high
sending heat waves that distort all I see
A vision of coolness for this soul so dry
with memories of what was never to be
Your love, like water of the mirage
always moving, just out of reach
a delirium of past and present rage
Struggling to close the breach
and mend the reality now rent
a battered psyche to recompose
beyond this vision yesterday sent
And to turn away from you,
Desert Rose
to bring the past to a close

Distant Fire
I am the distant fire
That smolders low
And erupts with desire
As you come and go
I am the mountain mist
That turns to raging rain
When my lips are kissed
By you again and again
You the moon of my night
You are the restful shade
You are illumination's light
You are my dreams made
We are the moon and sun
The calm and the storm
The two that makes one
The past and future born
